Online health and safety training is now available from the British Safety Council (BSC).
The Working Safely course from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) provides members of the public with a secure footing in risk management, giving them all of the information needed for a decent understanding of hazards at any level and in all sectors.
It has now been launched as an e-learning course from the BSC and can be viewed over the internet seven days every week and at any hour.
Students can therefore learn the content at their own convenience and pace.
Rather than focusing on UK legislation, it analyses best practices, which means people from all over the world can benefit from the e-learning platform.
It details why health and safety should be considered a vital part of a person's job and reveals information that can encourage hazard awareness in the workplace.
Risk assessment principals, an organisation's responsibilities, the importance of reporting injuries and near misses, controls for a variety of situations and personal obligations are outlined on the e-learning course.
People who successfully complete it, a follow-up hazard-spotting exercise and a multiple choice assessment will be issued an IOSH certificate.
BSC director of qualifications and standards John Phillips said the e-learning course can help an organisation to develop a "positive safety culture".
It provides employees with a "vital understanding of the basics of health and safety and environment management", he added.
IOSH is the "biggest health and safety body in the world", making its e-learning programme highly respected, the expert noted.
Workers will not have to take time off work to become trained and can learn about risks at a time that suits their business and themselves, Mr Phillips remarked.
"E-learning is a convenient, flexible and cost-effective way of delivering health, safety and environmental training to staff," he declared.
Speaking to the IOSH 2012 conference, its president Subash Ludhra said: "To those who tell us we can't afford health and safety, as professionals we need to let them know they simply can't afford to be without it."
The risk management is a market oriented course, and it will be a market trend for every upcoming students. Useful sites: http://managementcourses.ie/
