Social gaming is such a force online these days that whole companies are contributing to the coffers of other companies. This is the case with Facebook and Zynga. According to Facebook’s SEC filing in preparation for its upcoming IPO, Zynga contributes around 12% of Facebook’s overall revenues.

This relationship perhaps now will get the level of respect it deserves because there was lots of talk about Zynga’s over-reliance on Facebook for its survival. Now that the benefits seem quite mutual, detractors may have to keep their mouths shut. That is unless Zynga fails to keep the momentum going; something which recently looked under threat.
A recent poll of the most popular games on Facebook revealed that Zynga wasn’t in the number one slot, and although it had several spots in the top 10, experts were pointing towards the overall trend of decline where Zynga’s popularity is concerned. For now at least, Zynga is doing well enough to generate $445 million for Facebook and I am sure Zuckerberg doesn’t have a problem with that.
